We are proud to announce that the BSA Troop 103/4103 has been approved as a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The President’s Volunteer Service Award is a highly coveted award that recognizes contributions of community service volunteers:  adults and youth, as well as families and groups who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over the course of a 12-month period. To earn an award, volunteers must keep a record of volunteer activities and hours served. You can use this sample spreadsheet to track your hours, and then send it to the PVSA Administrator along with supporting documentation when it’s time to place an award order.

All hours must be verified on letterhead stationary signed by an authorized representative of the service organization and submitted to us upon completion of the required minimum number of hours of service in a 12 month period. All verifiable service hours must be submitted to the Troop 103 PVSA Administrator by July 15 to allow sufficient time to verify the hours and order the awards in time for presentation at the Court of Honor in September.

Service hours are earned through a variety of non-profit organizations, including scouting activities.  Other opportunities include volunteer projects through religious organizations, schools, environmental groups, and community outreach programs.

Service hours may not be court mandated, nor may you be paid for the hours served.

In order to receive credit for service hours, you must present a certificate or letter, signed by the organizing group leader, verifying the hours served.  The letter should clearly state your name, date, the volunteer activity and organization, and the hours served.
